Rural areas have always been beautiful to me in an unconventional way: not so much in what the area has, but in the simplicity and emptiness of these locations. The simplicity of the area begins to reflect the way of life in a calm, and comforting way.
This series of photos is all inside or just outside of my small, hometown of Waupun, Wisconsin. It is a country town with crop fields surrounding every side. Secluding it from any city that is near. For fun, my friends and I would go for long drives in the country. While looking out at these fields I would get the thought of how far the land goes, how quiet it would be if the music and speeding car were to come to a stop, humbled by just how small you would begin to feel.
I find myself returning to these spots around my town whenever life begins to become too noisy and to take a breath. While returning this time I decided to traverse into the fields that I have come familiar with passing in the car to get a sense of how small I could feel while out here. As well as to find the beauty in these simple, and empty landscapes. These photos have been described as empty and quiet, in a way holding the very charm of the area and why I return. There is beauty inquietude.
